01、“我家有五个人”英语怎么说？

中式英语：My family has five people.

地道表达：There are five of us in my family.

由于汉语和英语的语序不同，说话的重点也不同，英语表达偏向用“it”，“there be”以及名词性主语开头。而中国学生则习惯用“I，we，they，my”等开头的句子，不仅通篇句式单一，也打破了英语表达的语言习惯。

所以以下两种翻译模式

My family has XX people.

My family is of XX people.

说出来是能理解的，不过有点像硬翻......

02、“大家庭”英语怎么说？

有些家庭里有很多的成员，我们把其称之为“大家庭”。那么“大家庭”是用 ：big family 还是 large family？

两者都可以表达大家庭，只是程度不同，一般大家庭我们最好使用big family， large family 通常至少有10人以上

例句：

①A smallholding in the hills could not support a large family.

山间的一小块耕地是不可能养活一大家人的。

②I don't think we ever made a conscious decision to have a big family

我觉得我们没有刻意地决定要生很多孩子。

03、成家≠ start a family

start a family 并不是指成家的意思，而是指准备生小孩。Family 在英文里可以指：子女，尤其指年幼的子女。

Start a family=have children （生孩子、要小孩）

例句：

They decided to start a family.

他们决定要孩子。

04、I'm in the family way什么意思？

千万别直译成：我在回家路上（×）

在路上介词应该用on，on the way才对

I'm on the family way（√）

如果一个男生说出这样的话，会被人笑掉大牙的，因为它是“我怀孕了”的意思

口语表达：to have one on the way也有怀孕，新生儿即将出生的意思

例句：

Did you hear the good news? Pikachu is in the family way!

你知道那个好消息了吗，皮卡丘怀孕啦！

怀孕还可以说：

①I'm pregnant.

②I'm expecting a baby.

③Have a bun in the oven.

5、The black sheep of the family

black sheep of the family 表面意思是家里的黑羊，其实指的是家里的：不肖之子，害群之马以及我们常说的败家子，败败类

例句：

Pikachu is the black sheep of his family. He had almost ruined his father's Business.

皮卡丘是个败家子。他几乎毁了他爸爸的产业。

如果把前面的 black sheep ，替换成 rainbow sheep就是指：，家里的幸运儿的意思啦
